Find It... Touch It! | Active Vocabulary Games for Young Learners

Combine movement, vocabulary practice, scavenger hunts, and speaking games with this flexible set of adjective and number cards. The activities encourage learners to move around the classroom, interact with their environment, and practise descriptive language in active, memorable ways.

The resource includes 24 adjective cards focusing on common visual and physical properties such as size, weight, texture, colour, shape, pattern, temperature, and materials, alongside 12 number cards which can be used independently or combined with the adjective cards for a range of classroom games and challenges.

A printable scavenger hunt sheet is also included, allowing learners to search for and identify real-world objects matching different adjectives. Additional activity ideas include movement races, team vocabulary challenges, category games, and “find it-touch it” speaking tasks where students race to identify objects that match target vocabulary.

The activities work particularly well for active young learners because they combine physical movement with repeated vocabulary exposure, collaborative learning, and low-pressure speaking practice. The resource can also support simple STEM-based language activities and descriptive speaking tasks.
