Sock Puppets | Puppet-Making and Speaking Activities for EFL

This resource combines craft, creativity, role-play, and speaking activities through the creation and use of simple sock puppets. The activities are designed to help children build confidence speaking English by communicating through playful puppet characters rather than directly as themselves.

The resource guides teachers through the full process, beginning with vocabulary-building activities linked to body parts, facial features, emotions, and descriptive language before moving into puppet design, construction, character creation, and speaking practice. Practical classroom preparation advice, material suggestions, construction steps, and visual design ideas are all included to help teachers adapt the project for different ages and classroom settings.

Students learn how design choices such as eyes, mouths, eyebrows, colours, and movement can help create different personalities and emotions.
