Young Carers Text and Activities | EFL Resource

This thoughtful EFL resource explores the lives, challenges and strengths of young carers in the UK through a powerful reading text and structured speaking task.

After reading a real-world text about what it means to be a young carer, students take part in a discussion carousel activity. They move around the classroom in pairs or small groups, engaging with 12 carefully designed questions that explore themes such as responsibility, identity, education, and support. Each prompt encourages empathy, critical thinking, and meaningful language production.

The activity supports vocabulary development, extended speaking, and discussion skills — while giving learners the chance to engage with a topic that’s relevant, human, and often overlooked.
